We're Back! Join Women on the Rise this September

After 2 weeks of summer holidays we're back in the office, and we've got a bunch of new activities to offer you. Check out the calendar below for more details.

Support Groups back in session

Support groups offered include our perinatal mental health support group, the perinatal loss project in collaboration with the Family Care Collective, and our conjugal violence support group, Stronger Together.

Activity Locations Have Changed

Due to ongoing work at our Somerled location, the Tuesday and Thursday afternoon activities have been moved to the Walkley Centre until further notice. Some exceptions: our monthly food pantry will still take place at the St Thomas Anglican Church at 6897 Avenue Somerled, next door to our main building. Also, please note that on September 22nd and 24th we will be doing outings to the Maisons de la culture on Monkland Avenue and Botrel Street, so make sure to plan your trip ahead of time.

Permanent Closure of the Distro Room

It is with great sadness that we announce the permanent closure of our free boutique, the Distro Room. Due to circumstances beyond our control, our basement cannot receive material donations, volunteers, or visitors. After several years of dynamic exchanges, we thank everyone who donated, organized, and "shopped" in the Distro Room to make it the lively space that it was.

Other Places to Donate:

The annual NDG community snowsuit drive is coming up soon, and there will be multiple drop-off points around the neighborhood. There is a great need for all types of winter gear for all ages and genders, and in all sizes: snowsuits, coats, snow pants, scarves, hats, mittens, and boots. Last year, hundreds of NDG families received winter gear to stay warm and healthy, but many dozens more did not get anything because the supply ran out. The NDG Community Council will send out updates once this year's drop-off points have been selected. To be notified, sign up for the NDG Community Council newsletter or follow their Facebook page.

The Welcome Collective is a great place to donate essential furniture items that will then be delivered to vulnerable families across Montreal, free of charge. They are always looking for beds, tables and chairs, fridges and ovens, couches, and mattresses. Items can be dropped off at their drop-off point for free, or they can send a truck to pick up the furniture in exchange for a donation of at least $40. See their website for more information.

Maison Mosaik, also known as the Mosaik Family Resource Centre, accepts clothes, baby items, and small household goods for their free boutique. They will be hosting a fundraiser garage sale soon, and your items will be greatly appreciated. Click here to arrange your donation drop-off.
