Nowadays, many experts agree that we are in a loneliness epidemic. Loneliness is more than just a feeling--it has a big impact on our physical and mental health, and reduces our life expectancy. One of the best ways to feel less lonely is to volunteer your time for a cause that matters to you, not only because it feels good to serve others, but because you get to meet people and bond with them as you work together. Through sharing common experiences and making memories with each other, we feel less alone, and we forge new bonds. That's what "finding your people" is all about!

Over a dozen community orgs where you can find your people

This Saturday on October 18th, Women on the Rise will join over a dozen community partners in a volunteer fair at the NDG Sports Centre. It's a perfect opportunity to learn about ways to get involved to support youth, seniors, women, newcomers, and the environment in our beautiful neighborhood. Come to the fair, find your new volunteering gig, and get ready to make some new friends.
