Free activities for Women in January 2026

Happy 2026 everyone! We are grateful for the start of another year with you all, our members and supporters. Here's what we've got in store this month:

The free boutique will be open as of next Monday, January 12th. Make sure you bring your bag or cart!

Stronger Together will be back in-person on Monday, January 12th. We are also introducing a new online session of Stronger Together on Thursday evenings, starting on January 15th. Call or email us to sign up!

The perinatal mental health support group will start back in person on Friday, January 16th at the Monkland Community Centre, 4410 Avenue West Hill. There will also be a new online session each week on Wednesdays. Don't be shy, and join us!

Our early childhood education program is recruiting. This program is for kids aged 2-5 years and prepares them to integrate into daycare, pre-K, or kindergarten. Get in touch to schedule a consultation with our educator.

New this month: Bereavement Support Group with Zeeta maharaj

You are cordially invited to join a bereavement support group hosted by grief specialist and facilitator Zeeta Maharaj, offered by Women on the Rise and the Lotus Grief Center. After studying bereavement in her Master's degree and experiencing the deaths of her parents, Zeeta created the Lotus Grief Center to help people acknowledge grief, find meaning, and move toward healing at their own pace.

Zeeta's approach combines evidence-informed practices with the power of storytelling and ritual. She says, "I believe in meeting grief in all its complexity—emotional, physical, spiritual, and social—while honoring the unique journey of each person."
