Our main floor and basement
For the rest of the month our donation room is closed while we do some renovations and cleaning in the centre! We are excited to have a team of volunteers coming in to patch and repaint the walls and create a fresh look for our beloved little building.
So far we have removed old wallpaper, patched many holes, and sanded down lumps and bumps. Next comes painting and cleaning up the dust!
Please note that our free boutique will be closed until July 21st, 2025 as a result of the renovations.

Our back yard
Our back yard is now home to two small vegetable gardens. We have planted tomatoes, onions, ginger, and hot peppers. After many years of sourcing local produce from the Jean Talon market for our food preservation workshops, we will be able to eventually source from our own back yard!
Our front yard
Thanks to our local Ecoquartier, we have received perennial flower seedlings again this year. We are grateful to have a mix of hardy native and exotic perennials that will provide food and habitat for pollinator insects in our front yard. Incorporating the permaculture principle of working with nature for mutual benefit, we are using the chop-and-drop method to make use of locally available branches and plant clippings to create a protective layer of mulch around the plants. The mulch suppresses weeds and keeps water in the soil, meaning that less frequent watering is required.
