Part-Time Fundraiser

Women on the Rise is seeking a dynamic and energetic individual dedicated to increasing our organization’s overall operational budget.  Working with Women on the Rise means working with a fierce team of advocates on the front lines, that offer programs and services to support women’s empowerment.  We are the only women’s centre in NDG and the greater district.  This job allows for flexibility in schedule and provides opportunities for leadership, creativity and strategizing.

Overall purpose

To support Women on the Rise’s strong and sustainable growth by securing relevant funds from various sources.

 

General tasks

·         Develop and execute fundraising strategies and campaigns.

·         Identify and cultivate relationships with donors, sponsors, and partners.

·         Prepare and submit grant applications, proposals, and reports.

·         Manage donor databases and maintain accurate records.

·         Create and implement donor stewardship and recognition programs.

·         Stay current on industry trends and best practices in fund development.

·         In partnership with the Executive Director design project budgets, and

·         Identify staffing needs as part of the developing growth plans for the organization

 

Work structure & compensation

·         Minimum 20 hours weekly at $20/hour, potential for increased hours (25-30/week) for first 6 months (negotiable)

·         Paid: minimum 2 weeks off during winter holidays

·         Work schedule can be flexible, and there is potential to work from home for a portion of the schedule.  Can be broken into 2 or 3 shifts per week.

·         This is a 12-month contract, beginning in February 2024, with the possibility of renewal

·         There is a 2-month probationary period

 

Required attributes

·         Proficiency in English and French, written and spoken

·         Bachelor's degree in a related field* (e.g., Nonprofit Management, Business, Marketing)

·         A Fund Development or Fundraising Management certificate will be considered an asset. 

·         3-5 years of experience in fund development, grant writing, or related roles.

·         Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

·         Detail-oriented and well-organized.

·         Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

·         Strong computer skills (ie Microsoft 365, G Suite, experience optimizing databases, etc)

·         Strong commitment to confidentiality and respect for donor’s privacy

·         A passion for our mission of women’s empowerment, and a vision of justice and equity for all.

 

Assets

·         Knowledge of donor/ foundation databases

·         Additional languages spoken, understood, and/or written

·         Experience working in nonprofits or as a Board member

·         Savvy in relevant community resources

·         Savvy with additional software, tools, and online platforms
